Welcome to the Waste Pickers Movement Makhanda, advocates for inclusivity, fair representation and for the rights of waste pickers.

Our mission includes ensuring access to nutrition and healthcare, while creating spaces to self-represent and reshape our narratives in local media. Through initiatives like radio interviews, online publications, and community engagement, we aim to reframe the media's portrayal of waste pickers and our role in the green economy.

We have been working together since 2017 and have participated in Research with Rhodes University, Service Learning projects and worked with media outlets locally and internationally.
